Hue is proudly a no-tipping salon and spa. Simply stated, our service providers have decided to remove the tipping element from the guest experience.

Tipping is not only discouraged, it is not allowed. Our team members sincerely understand and respect the no tipping policy. Instead of tipping, Hue team members will gladly help you select an Aveda product that will help you take your Hue experience home.

Why no tipping?
There are several reasons why Hue has established a no-tipping policy.
  • Tipping Stress.  Let’s face it – tipping can be downright stressful.  How much do you tip?  Is it 15 percent?  Is it 20 percent?  Who do you tip if the assistant washes my hair and the stylist does the rest?  By removing the tipping element, Hue feels that we offer a more relaxing overall experience.
  • No Hidden Costs.  At Hue, the printed price on the menu is the price our guests will pay at check out. You don’t need a calculator to figure out the overall cost of a service.
  • Professionalism. Our stylists, estheticians, and massage therapists are highly trained and educated. They all attended professional and reputable schools.  In addition, they had to display their skill and knowledge by obtaining their licensure through the State Board or have received other certifications. And at Hue, all of our service providers receive on-going education through Aveda and other highly-respected sources. Other professionals that have similar education, licensure, or continuing education requirements are not tipped for service.
  • Expectations. The purpose of tipping, at least historically, is to receive a higher level of service. At Hue, we provide each and every guest with the same high level of personal service. It’s all about you, not the tip, at Hue.
  • Avoiding the I.R.S..The service industry, including salons and spas, have been under scrutiny regarding the reporting of tips. By removing tips from our services, Hue and all of our team members avoid potential tax liabilities and fines.
